The Unit

Pioneer Unit is made up of some of the most talented emcees, DJs and producers on the planet.

The label is split into two divisions, Spaza and Dark Side. As the name suggests, Spaza deals with spaza hip hop, where lyrics are performed in a combination of isiXhosa, English and Afrikaans. Dark Side deals with underground hip hop artists who push the creative boundaries of the artform. All artists are committed to creating African hip hop that is at home anywhere in the world.
